Looking for that unique, comfortable, high-tech and inviting setting to get the job done? You’re far from alone. Actually, you’re part of one of the most dynamic trends the American workplace has seen in years. That’s why CapCity CoWorks, Albany’s newest coworking space, has become the ideal spot to collaborate, innovate and network.

Coworking is emerging as a solution for more than just for entrepreneurs and independent gig-economy aficionados. It’s the heart of a dramatic transformation that’s going mainstream – and is being embraced a growing number of big-name companies that welcome the visionary opportunities coworking delivers. Benefits include efficiency, productivity, cultures of possibility and even reduced real estate costs. This new strategic direction strengthens coworking because it builds upon the already strong roots planted by smaller companies and gig workers.

In New York City, for instance, IBM has leased an entire building for coworking, according to The New York Times. In Boston, Liberty Mutual leases coworking space. Other companies, such as Sprint in Kansas City, work with coworking companies to design specialized work environments and provide amenities, The Times reported. As another example, Microsoft leases several coworking spaces in Manhattan because numerous work locations give its team broader flexibility and convenience to meet clients all over the city.

And that’s just the start. Companies responding to a survey from Cushman & Wakefield, a real estate services firm, expect to double their commitment to coworking in the next five years. Nationally, nearly two-thirds of companies use coworking to some degree, Cushman & Wakefield said in a report.

“Corporate leaders have a generally positive view of coworking,” the report said. “The percentage of employees with access to flex space is on the rise, and companies increasingly see this as part of a broader solution.”

Clearly, big companies appreciate the energy, independence and networking opportunities that coworking provides gig-economy professionals. That culture is at the heart of CapCity CoWorks.
